Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated ninety one 100 W FM transmitters Yesterday. The FM transmitters spread across 18 states and 2 UTs covering additional area of 35,000 sq.km. coverage by FM.
The focus has been given on aspirational district and far flung areas.
In A&N the two transmitters located at Car Nicobar and Swaraj Dweep turns a into a symbol of change by strengthening the FM services beyond Port Blair. Residents of Car Nicobar and Swaraj Dweep will now be having local multi- language programs and news over FM by simply tuning to 100.1 MHz.
The Car Nicobar FM transmitter is the southern most FM transmitter of AIR in India reaching directly to Nicobari Tribes. While having a FM transmitter at Swaraj Dweep, one the most popular tourist destination, will help in promoting tourism and local culture.
Adding the two additional FM transmitters on the network has boosted the FM coverage of AIR across the islands.
