The Somnath-Rameswaram Sangam Ashthakam, a set of verses celebrating historical ties between Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu has been composed by Shri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval. It is based on the historic event of the auspicious confluence of the two holy places of Rameswaram and Somnath.
Many eminent scholars from Shri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval, and affiliated universities across the region came together to organize a cultural, educational, and historical program to highlight the sentiments and enthusiasm of the people towards the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The world is a family) and the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
The book is an amalgamation of renowned poets composing verses related to the emotions and sentiments of Saurashtra Tamil Sangam. The best verses from these compositions have been compiled in a book, "सौराष्ट्र-तमिलसङ्गमप्रशस्तिः" (Saurashtra Tamil Sangam Praise). The book will offer a unique experience for readers to experience the feelings and sentiments of the artists and poetic scholars and keep the memories of the momentous Saurashtra Tamil Sangam alive.
