Madras High Court raps GST department

Amidst the numerous troubles and harassment by GST department, Corporation Bank-appointed Resolution Professional and NCLT in the SLO Industries case, the company approached the Hon’ble High Court of Madras on April 20th 2023 and filed a Contempt of Court petition against the GST department for failing to file its counter reply in WP No. 82 of 2022 and 2298 of 2021. Hon’ble Dr. Justice Anita Sumanth observed that “despite a final opportunity having been granted to file counter in WP Nos 84 of 2022 and 2298 of 2021, counter is not forthcoming” and directed that the counter will be received by the Registry in the above WPs upon proof of payment of costs of Rs. 2,000 (Rupees Two Thousand only) per counter, payable to Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai-600 020 and listed the next hearing for 21.6.2023. The Hon’ble Justice also reaffirmed the interim order granted in WP No. 2298 of 2021 on 4.2.21 and extended on various dates which will stand extended till the date of next hearing
