CUTN and DCO signs MOU for setting up workstation for Research on sample micro data from census

Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) and the Office of Directorate of Census Operations (DCO), Tamil Nadu, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to set up a workstation for research on sample micro data from the census.

The workstation will be located at CUTN's Neelakudi campus in Thiruvarur, with the Department of Geography responsible for establishing and maintaining the workstation. It will promote and foster research activities and make available micro data from the Indian census that includes household-level information for research purposes.

Researchers from across the country can use this facility, provided their research proposals have been accepted and approved by the steering committee constituted by CUTN.

The MOU was jointly signed by Prof Sulochana Shekhar Registrar (i/c) and Mr. Sajjansingh R Chavan, Director DCO, Tamil Nadu in the presence of CUTN Vice Chancellor Prof M. Krishnan.

The MOU signed by CUTN and DCO Tamil Nadu is expected enable researchers to access a vast dataset, encourage more research activities and provide significant opportunities for researchers to gain insights into the Indian population's socio-economic and demographic characteristics.
