Pond cleaning at Kachipattu village, Sriperumbudur

On 30th May 2023, the first year Students of the Department of Social Work, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) did a transect walk to mobilise community people using music instrument. Subsequently, students performed a puppetry show to generated awareness about the health and hygiene in front of the community people including, young, children, adults and old aged on as a month-long process of activity on the occasion of World Environment Day. 

The programme started at 10: 20 am on 30th of May at the Verokottai Pond of the Kachipattu village inhabited by 99% inhabitants belonging to the Scheduled CasteCommunity. 

The community people participated enthusiastically. The wife of ward counsellor, Panchayat Representative from the Town Panchayat Office of Sriperumbudur, town panchayat staff with vehicle and required equipment, Project Manager of IIT Madras, faculties of the Department of Social Work, RGNIYD and the community people participated in the inauguration of the programme.

The pond cleanliness activity was done in a collaborative and in an efficient manner under the scorching sunlight. The process of cleanliness came to an end by 12:30 pm.
