Madurai Kamaraj University, NSS organized International Yoga day celebration

National Service Scheme, Madurai Kamaraj University, organized the International Yoga Day on June 21, 2023, at Mu. Va. Hall, MKU. Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. J. Kumar inaugurated the programme with his felicitation. He emphasized the importance of yoga for the student’s physical and mental well-being. He stated that through yoga practices like Sirasasana, we improve our memory power, concentration, and stress reduction. Yoga is useful for people of all ages, both men and women.

Practicing yoga, especially at a young age, will help the person lead a stress-free and healthy life. He instructed all the students participants to practice yoga daily and also to disseminate the stills and knowledge to others. From this academic year 2023-2024, the University introduced new UG courses. The students after completing the school education and entering the University will benefit a lot from this kind of programmes conducted by the University. The Department of Genetics and Centre for Educational Research jointly carried out a RUSA supported project and found the effect of Yoga practices on Hormones and stress factors in human beings.

Dr. P. Kannadasan, Dean, MKU offered felicitation. He explained the importance of doing yoga in the fast-moving world. Yoga gives a sound body as well as a sound mind. Dr. M. Pandi, NSS Programme Coordinator, MKU, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Kannan, Assistant Professor, Centre for Educational Research, MKU, Proposed the vote of thanks. In this yoga day celebration, more than 300 NSS students from various colleges participated. The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. M. Pandi, NSS Programme Coordinator, MKU.
