Integrated Communication Outreach Programme ICOP on Government welfare schemes, International Year of Millets, Mission Life Environment was organised by Central Bureau of Communication at Jayankondam on Wednesday. Jayankondam MLA Mr. Kannan inaugurated the photo exhibition on government welfare schemes and visited the stalls set up as part of ICOP. Delivering inaugural speech MLA Kannan stressed the importance of traditional food grains including millets. He pointed out that quality should be given priority and urged people to eat nutritious food. Ariyalur is giving importance to millet production, he pointed out. He said that people should be aware of government schemes so that they can get benefit from them. 

Central Bureau of Communication Chennai Director Mr. J Kamaraj in his presidential address spoke about importance of millets as nutritional diet. He pointed out that Mission Life stresses on Environment safeguard.  He urged students to utilise the information on various government welfare schemes and disseminate to public.  He said that Outreach Programmes are being organised on central government schemes and various themes like Yoga, Mission Life, International year of Millets all over the state.

Mr. K Devi Padmanabhan Field Publicity Officer Tiruchirapalli in his welcome address said that International Year of Millets is being celebrated by United Nations this year as per India’s request in 2021. He spoke about Mission Life objectives like saving water, saving energy and avoiding usage of plastic.

Dr Mohan  Ariyalur District Siddha Medical Officer  spoke about importance of Siddha medicines like kabasura kudineer and how it was effective during Covid period to strengthen self immunity.

Jayankondam Govt Arts and Science College Principal Dr A Rani, RSETI Director Mr. Ravichandran rendered felicitations.

Mr. Thayagarajan Field Publicity Assistant Dharmapuri rendered vote of thanks. K Ravindran FPA Thanjavur coordinated the outreach programme. Stalls by various government departments like  ICDS, Social welfare department, RSETI, Siddha, TB eradication and Postal department were set up. Prizes and certificates were given to students who won in elocution competition on International Year of Millets. Song and Drama registered troupe from Ariyalur Kalaimani Kalikuzhu performed awareness programme.
