TNAU inaugurates 8th AGSC

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore inaugurates the "8th Agricultural Graduate Students Conference (AGSC)" on August 22nd, 2023. Esteemed guests, including Dr.Vijaya Raghavan, Distinguished James McGill Professor from Canada, Dr.C.Ramasamy, former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Dr.R.Tamil Vendan, Registrar, TNAU, Dr.N.Senthil, Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, and Dr.N.Venkatesa Palanichamy, Dean, Agriculture College & Research Institute, along with other honorable dignitaries, inaugurated the seminar by igniting a ceremonial candle.

Subsequent to this, Dr.N.Senthil extended a warm welcome to the distinguished attendees on behalf of the University. The event's special guest, the accomplished scientist Dr.Vijayaraghavan, delivered a captivating inaugural address. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of modernizing agriculture and underscored the roles that scientists and agricultural students play in achieving integrated food production. Following this, former Vice-Chancellor Dr.Ramasamy expounded upon the conference's importance and presented his vision for the future of agriculture. This was succeeded by the publication of the conference proceedings.

Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, took center stage to deliver the keynote address, wherein she expounded upon the pivotal role of agriculture, the advancements that are shaping agriculture in this century, the merits of the conference, and the university's notable achievements. Her speech also delved into the fellowships bestowed upon Masters and PhD students, as well as the collaborative research undertaken with agricultural universities worldwide.

Eminent scholars and professors hailing from esteemed academic institutions across the globe, such as Dr.Senthil Subramanian from the Department of Plant Sciences at South Dakota State University, USA, Dr.G.Prabhakara Reddy, Dean of SV College of Agriculture, Tirupati, Dr.Edwin Rockbell Jayasingh from Corteva Agriscience, Hyderabad, Dr.Balasankari Palgat Krishnan, CEO of Renewable Cogen Globe - EECC, and Dr.Hamid Sulaiman, Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, shared their profound insights and experiences with the faculty members and participating students. 

Deans and Heads of Departments from various departments and constituent colleges of Tamil Nadu State Agricultural University graced the event with their presence and were honored with commemorative mementos. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by doctoral student Krithika. A grand total of 1320 participants, comprising individuals from diverse universities, educational institutes, leading scientists, and experts in the realm of agriculture, converged to partake in and contribute to this event. The roster boasted an impressive lineup of 460 poster presentations and 70 oral presentations, each of which showcased pioneering research findings and innovative solutions aimed at tackling the multifaceted challenges posed by the globalization of agriculture. Furthermore, the conference encompassed advanced studies that delved into the intricate dynamics and repercussions of factors such as food security, feed production, and sustainable fuel within the context of globalized agriculture.
