Dr. Saalai Maruthamalai Murugan (BSc Agri, MSc, Phd (Herbal Science)), a herbal agronomist who researches ancient Tamil medicinal herbal techniques and has 20 years of experience in herbal field, was conferred with the prestigious award of Outstanding Herbal Researcher and Consultant and Lifetime Achievement Award. Tamil Nadu Governor Honourable RN Ravi presented the award at a function held at the Governor's House, Chennai.
He is the Director of Siddhar Vanam – Siddha Hospital, Siddha Mudra Global Research Institute and Siddha Mudra Ayush Research and Training Institute and Siddha Forest Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Trichy. He has also worked as a consultant in Government of India (MSME), United Nations Herbal Conservation Programs and Tamil Nadu Government Programs.
Dr. Maruthamalai Murugan has experience working with over a thousand herb collectors. He has also been a technical consultant to more than 100 institutions. He is versatile as an entrepreneur, researcher, consultant, instructor, ecologist. He has also authored various research papers and books on Organic Farming and Herbs.
