TNAU organized FoodXplore’23 to commemorate the World Food Day

TNAU’s Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore organized FoodXplore-23 an International workshop on “Engineering Approaches for Sustainable Food Systems” on 30th November, 2023 to commemorate the “World Food Day”. 

Dr. V.Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor, TNAU, Dr. A.Raviraj, Dean, AEC&RI, TNAU, Dr. VenkatesaPalanisamy. Dean, AC&RI, TNAU, Mr. Vijay Anand, Director & Vice President, Naga Foods & Savorite Ltd., Dindugul and Er. Boobalan, Senior Manager, ITC Limited, Chennai were the invited experts of the workshop. 

Dr. M.Balakrishnan, Professor and Head, Food Process Engineering welcomed the dignitaries and enlightened the importance of Sustainable Approaches needed for food processing sector. Dr. A.Raviraj, Dean (Agrl. Engg.) addressed the gathering and enlightened about the sustainable food system and the need for attaining sustainable development goals.

Dr. V.Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor delivered the inaugural address and highlighted the importance of traditional food systems and evolving food trends in India. She emphasized the need of food as a preventive medicine in our lifestyle. 

FoodXplore-23 acted as a leading forum by organizing an Industry-Institution Linkage Workshop in which the experts from various industries Dr. Karunanithy Chinnadurai, Senior Manager, HP Hood LLC, USA, Er. Boobalan, Senior Manager, ITC Limited, Chennai, Dr. Chitra Karunakaran, Senior Director, CLS Interim, Canada acted as panel of experts and shared their proficiency for the well being of students. The event also had various on stage and off stage technical events in which students from different colleges participated and exhibited their talents. The event was meticulously coordinated by the students of B.Tech. (Food Technology) of AEC&RI, Coimbatore.
