International Workshop on Communal Participation for Sustainable Development

The Department of Education and Computer Science, Mother Teresa Women;s University, Madurai Campus in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Commonwealth Mother Teresa Women’s International Centre, Kodaikanal organized an International Workshop at Madurai on Communal Participation for Sustainable Development on July 25th 2024. 


The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by the Organising Secretary of the programme. Dr. P.B.Beulahbel Bency, Assistant Professor of Education, who emphasized the significance of Communal participation and Development in a society. Dr. M.Pushpa Rani, Director, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Madurai Campus  delivered a special address, highlighting the profound significance of Development in a society, how ruins of globalization destroys our nature, environment and ozone. She recited a poem on the effect of industrialization affecting our Mother Earth. 


The Guest of the day Dr. Rizwan, Faculty of Sociology, Department of Social Sciences, South Eastern University, Sri Lanka gave an inspiring speech on various initiatives towards Sustainable Development. He began his presentation by outlining the 17 SDGs, which were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He emphasized that these goals are an universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.


The Workshop continued with a Keynote Address on importance of Entrepreneurship in Education and Artificial Intelligence by KVJ. Prof. Dr. R. Ganesan, Chairman, National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED), Coimbatore. He highlighted the transformative impact of digital platforms in providing opportunities for women. He shared inspiring stories of women entrepreneurs who have successfully harnessed online tools to build their businesses.  The event was also beautifully featured by a facilitation address by Ms.V. Mathumitha, Founder of Bright Maples, An Online Platform for Learning, Erode. She pointed out the communal participation by online marketing and digital literacy. She also highlighted the significance of emerging entrepreneurs and professionals navigating the digital landscape.


The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Renuga Devi, Assistant Professor of Education. The workshop came to an end with the National Anthem.
