DRI Chennai Busts Methamphtamine Drug Trafficking Network

In a meticulously planned operation on 29.08.2024 & 30.08.2024, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Chennai has busted a drug trafficking network by seizing 10.13 Kgs of Methamphetamine, a narcotic drug, valued at Rs. 50.65 Crores and by arresting 6 persons.

Acting on the basis of specific intelligence that three persons would be transporting narcotics drugs from Chennai towards the southern coast of Tamilnadu for onward smuggling to Srilanka through the sea route, the officers of DRI Chennai Zonal Unit intercepted the said vehicle in the outskirts of Chennai near Potheri. On rummaging the vehicle, in a specially made cavity under the backseat of the car 10 packets containing 10.13 Kgs of Methamphetamine were found concealed and the same was seized under the NDPS Act,1985.

Further searches were carried out at the premises of the key personnel who are involved in the smuggling of drugs as a result of which three more offenders, the mastermind of the racket, the person who supplied the contraband and a mediator have been arrested. Rs.1.30 Crores in cash which is the sale proceeds of the offence and  three vehicles used by the offenders have also been seized under the NDPS Act,1985.
