Guest lecture on ‘Econometric techniques for Research’

The Research Centre and Department of Economics, Lady Doak College organised a guest lecture on ‘Econometric Techniques for Research’ for the postgraduate students of Economics under the leadership of Dr. Beulah Jeyashree R., Principal & Secretary and the administrators of the college. This academic programme was coordinated with the support and guidance from Dr. M. Helen Mary Jacqueline, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics. 


The resource person Dr. T. Indra, Assistant Professor of Mathematical Economics, Madurai Kamaraj University  emphasized the importance of econometrics in validating theoretical models with real-world data. The lecture provided practical insights into the application of various econometric models, including linear and nonlinear regression for the srudents. 


The speaker provided personalized advice to participants on how to apply econometric techniques in their ongoing research projects. The entire programme was arranged by Dr. Anitha Selvaraj and Dr. Uma Maheswari T, Assistant Professors of Economics. Participants gained a solid understanding of foundational econometric concepts, such as regression analysis, time series analysis, and panel data analysis. Participants raised questions about specific econometric techniques and clarified their doubts. This programme greatly enriched the participants with the understanding of application of econometric techniques in empirical research.
