TNAU conducts Hands-on training in Gene isolation, Cloning and Molecular Characterization

The Department of Plant Biotechnology, Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University organized a four-day "Hands-on Training in Gene Isolation, Cloning, and Molecular Characterization" from August 6th to 9th, 2024. 


Around 23 Research scholars and scientists from various colleges and research institutes across India, Malaysia and United Kingdom actively participated in this training program.


The Hands-on Training commenced with an inaugural ceremony on August 6, 2024. Dr. N. Senthil, Director (CPMB &B), and Dr. M. Raveendran, Director of Research, graced the occasion as presiding dignitaries. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. E. Kokiladevi, Professor and Head, Department of Plant Biotechnology.


Dr. N. Senthil, Director (CPMB & B), during his inaugural address, emphasized the significance of gene cloning as a key technique for all molecular biology studies. He also provided an overview of the training program, emphasizing its relevance in equipping participants with essential skills in gene cloning.


Dr. M. Raveendran, Director of Research, addressed the role of these kinds of gene cloning training in nurturing skilled manpower development. He also highlighted the importance of gaining practical expertise in this gene cloning and genomics for advancements in research field. 


This was followed by the self-introduction of participants. A formal Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. L. Arul, Professor and Head, Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.
