Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) celebrated its University Research Day 2024 on 21st August 2024. The Honorable Chancellor of VMRF (DU), Dr. A.S. Ganesan, presided over the function. In his presidential address, the Chancellor emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary research and announced the formation of a cluster combining Medical Sciences and Engineering disciplines. He expressed satisfaction that research outcomes at VMRF (DU) have significantly improved over the last five years.


The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. G. Aghila, Director of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, delivered the keynote address, discussing research, discovery, invention, and innovation, as well as the funding opportunities provided by government agencies. She elaborated on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in health sciences, particularly for the early detection of ailments. She highlighted the challenge of collecting authentic data and introduced the "OrCam MyEye" product, which uses a small camera and AI for real-time text reading, object recognition, and face identification, assisting visually impaired individuals in daily activities and enhancing their independence. Prof. Dr. Aghila also raised concerns about the addiction of younger generations to mobile phones and encouraged students to focus their time on innovation.


The honourable Chancellor released two books: one authored by Dr. S.A.V. Satya Murty, Director (Research), and Dr. P.K. Sudhir, Vice Chancellor of VMRF (DU), on research excellence, and another on the comprehensive, up-to-date research policies of VMRF (DU).
